CONCENTRATION

Most of what you pay for is alcohol.

A bottle of fragrance is mostly carrier. What separates a cheap one from a serious one is how much of it is actually perfume oil — and what that does to the way it wears.

  • Eau de Toilette 5–15%
    Concentration
    Projection
    Longevity

Loud on application, gone within a few hours.

  • Eau de Parfum 15–20%
    Concentration
    Projection
    Longevity

What most designer bottles — and most inspired-by brands — actually are.

  • Parfum Spray — ours 40%
    Concentration
    Projection
    Longevity

Sits closer than an eau de parfum and stays for most of a day. 30ml from £9.99.

  • Alcohol-Free Oil — ours 100%
    Concentration
    Projection
    Longevity

Sits closest to the skin and lasts longest of anything here. 3ml from £5.99.

Which one? Choose the spray if you want to be noticed across a room. Choose the oil if you want it close, personal, and still there at the end of the day. Same blend, different reach.

Why our oils have no alcohol

Alcohol is a delivery system. It flashes off within minutes and takes the top notes with it — which is why a spray is loudest when you apply it and quietest an hour later.

Our roll-ons replace it with a skin-safe carrier oil. Nothing evaporates on contact, so the scent warms instead of flashing, and stays with you rather than filling the room.

What concentration doesn't tell you

A higher percentage means more perfume oil per millilitre. That is a fact about what is in the bottle, and it is why a 3ml roll-on goes as far as it does.

It is not the whole story. Longevity also depends on the materials — oud, amber and woods linger whatever the strength, while citrus lifts away quickly. We would rather tell you that than pretend one number settles it.

A full ingredient list is enclosed with every order. The fragrance composition itself is declared as Parfum — the standard industry designation for a perfumer's blend.

How to wear it.

Fragrance is brought to life by warmth. Apply it where your skin is warmest and it will project further and last longer — inner wrists, either side of the neck, behind the ears, the inner elbows, the base of the throat. On a beard or hairline, oils only, and just a little.

Two things worth knowing: don't rub your wrists together, it crushes the top notes. And apply to moisturised skin — dry skin lets fragrance evaporate far faster.

A designer bottle costs what it costs because of the glass, the advertising and the name on the front. We spend it on what goes inside.
